Kenworth rear axle outer end hub may have not been primed with oil properly during the rear axle installation process.
The short version
PACCAR INCORPORATED reported a problem with the axle spindle. Here is what owners need to know.
THE REAR AXLE OUTER END HUB MAY HAVE NOT BEEN PRIMED WITH OIL PROPERLY DURING THE REAR AXLE INSTALLATION PROCESS. POTENTIAL LACK OF OIL MAY CAUSE THE OUTER END BEARING TO HEAT UP AND/OR SEIZE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN THE OVERHEATING OF THE WHEEL END.
A WHEEL END FIRE MAY OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BEARINGS, SEALS AND WILL ADD OIL TO THE OUTER END HUB AS WELL AS INSPECT RACES AND AXLE HOUSING FOR DAMAGE AND REPLACING AS NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE.
