Daimler Trucks North America fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no.
The short version
DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA reported a problem with the exterior lighting headlights. Here is what owners need to know.
THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE HEADLIGHTS ON SOME VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED MORE THAN 54" FROM THE ROAD SURFACE.
HEADLIGHTS INSTALLED AT HEIGHTS OUTSIDE OF THE PARAMETERS SET BY THE SAFETY STANDARD MAY NOT FULLY ILLUMINATE ROAD SURFACES OR MAY INHIBIT THE ABILITY OF MOTORISTS TO SEE VEHICLES INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE HEADLAMP HEIGHT AND REPLACE ANY NONCONFORMING HEADLIGHTS WITH NEW HEADLIGHTS THAT LOWER THE BULB CENTER SUCH THAT THE HEADLIGHTS MEET THE SAFETY STANDARD FREE OF CHARGE.
