Gillig Corporation tooth profile and spacing of the tilt lock teeth on the support bracket may be incorrect, preventing the tilt lock bar from fully engaging.
The short version
GILLIG CORPORATION reported a problem with the steering column. Here is what owners need to know.
THE TOOTH PROFILE AND SPACING OF THE TILT LOCK TEETH ON THE SUPPORT BRACKET MAY BE INCORRECT, PREVENTING THE TILT LOCK BAR FROM FULLY ENGAGING. THIS MAY ALLOW THE STEERING COLUMN TO SLIP FROM THE DRIVER- SET TILT LOCATION AND MOVE UPWARD UNTIL IT LOCKS IN ANOTHER TILT POSITION.
THIS UNINTENDED MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING COLUMN MAY INTERFERE WITH THE DRIVERS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND INCREASE RISK OF A CRASH.
GILLIG WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND GILLIG WILL REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN FREE OF CHARGE.
