The short version

Mack Trucks, Inc. reported a problem with the engine diesel. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

In the affected vehicles, the protection system, designed to monitor diesel engine speed and shutdown the engine should it rev excessively, may be wired incorrectly and may not operate as designed.

WHY IT MATTERS

Without a system to control the engine speed, if airborne hydrocarbons (combustible vapors) enter through the air intake, excessive engine speed may result in a catastrophic engine failure and/or engine fire.

WHAT TO DO

Mack will notify owners, and dealers will correct the system wiring, free of charge.
