The short version

PACCAR Incorporated reported a problem with the exterior lighting headlights. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

The affected vehicles may have a temporary loss of headlights when being switched from low beam to high beam mode. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

WHY IT MATTERS

A loss of headlights while switching to high beams will reduce the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

WHAT TO DO

Kenworth will notify owners, and dealers will alter the wiring harness to enable the high beams to illuminate, free of charge.
