The short version

General Motors LLC reported a problem with the turn signal switch. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

Rotation of the steering wheel will not automatically cancel the turn-signals from flashing. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment."

WHY IT MATTERS

If the turn-signals do not automatically deactivate, the driver may fail to turn them off manually. An erroneous active turn-signal may mislead pedestrians and other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will replace the turn-signal switch, free of charge.
