The short version

Autocar, LLC reported a problem with the automatic transmission gear position indication (prndl). Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

Due to the placement of the shift pad, the shift pad may fail, and not display the transmission range or sequence. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence/Starter Interlock/Transmission Braking Effect."

WHY IT MATTERS

If the shift pad display fails, the operator will not know the transmission range or sequence information, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

WHAT TO DO

Autocar will notify owners, and dealers will relocate the shift pad, free of charge.
