The short version

Altec Industries Inc. reported a problem with the adjustment automatic electrical/hydraulic. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

The incorrect counterbalance valve may have been installed in the main lift cylinder. As a result, at certain boom positions the counterbalance valve will open due to the pressure in the cylinder exceeding the setting.

WHY IT MATTERS

If one of the hoses between the cylinder and the external counterbalance valve manifold were to fail to hold pressure, the boom could unexpectedly lower, increasing the risk of an injury.

WHAT TO DO

Altec will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct counterbalance valve if necessary, free of charge.
