Kenworth starter interrupt may allow the vehicle to start when the transmission is not in park.
The short version
PACCAR Incorporated reported a problem with the power train. Here is what owners need to know.
The starter interrupt may allow the vehicle to start when the transmission is not in PARK. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission shift position sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect."
Starting the vehicle when the transmission is not in PARK may cause unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.
Paccar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and reconnect the transmission and chassis harness, free of charge.
