GMC taillight software can cause one or both rear taillights to become inoperative, or remain fully or partially illuminated.
The short version
General Motors, LLC reported a problem with the exterior lighting tail lights. Here is what owners need to know.
Taillight software can cause one or both rear taillights to become inoperative, or remain fully or partially illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
A taillight that fails to illuminate or illuminates incorrectly may reduce the visibility of the vehicle, or communicate incorrect information to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Take it to a dealer — they will inspect and replace as necessary, the left and/or right rear taillight assemblies, free of charge.
