The short version

Blue Bird Body Company reported a problem with the control module software. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

The starter interlock settings in the vehicle software are incorrect, allowing the engine to crank while the T-handle gear shifter is in Reverse or Drive. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence/Starter Interlock/Transmission Braking Effect."

WHY IT MATTERS

A bus that is started in reverse or drive may result in unintended vehicle movement, and increase the risk of a crash or injury.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will update the software, free of charge.
