Volkswagen rearview camera image may be delayed or deactivated.
The short version
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. reported a problem with the back over prevention software. Here is what owners need to know.
The rearview camera image may be delayed or deactivated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
A rearview camera with a delayed or deactivated image reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Take it to a dealer — they will update the vehicle's software, free of charge.
