Spartan air brake supply reservoir is less than 12x the combined volume of air for all service brake chambers.
The short version
Shyft Group reported a problem with the supply reservoir/tank. Here is what owners need to know.
The air brake supply reservoir is less than 12x the combined volume of air for all service brake chambers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
The undersized air brake supply reservoir may provide an insufficient air supply to properly operate the brakes during repetitive braking, reducing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash.
Shyft Group will replace the air supply reservoir, free of charge.
