The short version

PACCAR Incorporated reported a problem with the electronic stability control (esc). Here is what owners need to know.

As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."

WHY IT MATTERS

An incorrect estimate of the vehicle mass can reduce the performance of the stability control system and increase the risk of a crash.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will update the software, free of charge.
