The short version

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. reported a problem with the back over prevention software. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

The rearview camera image may be delayed or deactivated after shifting into reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

WHY IT MATTERS

A rearview camera with a delayed or deactivated image reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will update the infotainment system software, free of charge.
