The short version

Nissan North America, Inc. reported a problem with the back over prevention software. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

A software error may cause the rearview camera to freeze and display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

WHY IT MATTERS

The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will reprogram the AVM software, free of charge.
