The short version

Altec Industries, Inc. reported a problem with the boom/crane/ladder hoses/cables/rods/gears/strut/cylinder. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. The hydraulic cylinder head gland may have been improperly manufactured, which can result in it detaching from the barrel of the cylinder while under load, leaving the lower boom unsupported.

WHY IT MATTERS

A loss of lower boom support during operation could cause the lower boom to fall, increasing the risk of injury.

WHAT TO DO

Owners should inspect the cylinder and confirm that the cylinder matches the part number and serial number list, free of charge.
