The short version

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. reported a problem with the lighting control module software. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

The headlights may be too bright and exceed the maximum light output, which may adversely affect the vision of drivers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

WHY IT MATTERS

Headlights that are excessively bright can reduce visibility for oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will reprogram the headlight control unit software, free of charge.
