Mercedes-Benz welds on the helical gear within the rear axle drivetrain may fail, causing a loss of drive power.
The short version
Daimler Vans USA, LLC reported a problem with the power train axle assembly. Here is what owners need to know.
The welds on the helical gear within the rear axle drivetrain may fail, causing a loss of drive power.
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. In addition, drivetrain failure can result in a vehicle rollaway if the parking brake is not applied, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Take it to a dealer — they will replace the rear axle electric drivetrain, free of charge.
