Volvo brakes may take longer than expected to activate.
The short version
Volvo Trucks North America reported a problem with the controls proportioning relay valve. Here is what owners need to know.
The brakes may take longer than expected to activate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Delayed brake activation can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
Take it to a dealer — they will install a new pneumatic circuit, free of charge.
