The short version

Forest River Bus, LLC reported a problem with the escape/egress/exit latching/release system. Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

The lock on the emergency exit door may fail to unlock. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."

WHY IT MATTERS

An emergency exit that remains locked can prevent or delay passengers from evacuating during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will replace the barrel latch, free of charge.
