The short version

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC reported a problem with the automatic transmission gear position indication (prndl). Here is what owners need to know.

WHAT

Moisture may have entered the gear shift module (GSM) during assembly, which can cause the gear shift position indicator light to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

WHY IT MATTERS

A gear shift position indicator that fails to illuminate can make it difficult to identify the correct transmission gear position, increasing the risk of a crash.

WHAT TO DO

Take it to a dealer — they will replace the GSM, free of charge.
