Spartan exterior brake lights may remain illuminated when the driver is not applying the brakes.
The short version
Shyft Group reported a problem with the exterior lighting brake lights. Here is what owners need to know.
The exterior brake lights may remain illuminated when the driver is not applying the brakes. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Brake lights that remain on may fail to alert other vehicles of the driver's intention, increasing the risk of a crash.
Shyft will replace the pressure switch, free of charge.
